My Ramblings about Goa

Posted on February 21, 2008

“For oft when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;”

I can’t help but remember these lines by Wordsworth in the poem “The Daffodils”. While the poet sits lonely on his couch, he travels back to a romantic moment that he had left far behind. Recollecting genial moments from past happen to be his favorite passtime..something the poet refers as a bliss being lonely.

I really like being lonely, and a place that often flashes back in my deserted mind is “Goa”. A tiny corner in south-west part of India, the place is nothing less than a wonderland. It is very much like a separate world away from this earth..the life-style, the serenade beauty has a unique aura of its own.

As we know, tourist attractions happen to be an integral part of any tourist destination, and Goa is not an exception to this. Places like Donna Paula beach, Maupassa Bazaar, Shri Mangesh Temple in Madgoa, St. Xavier’s’ Church, are mention worthy among them.

A depiction about Goa would remain incomplete without the mention of Goa Carnival. It is an occasion that brings together people from every walk of life. The five day festival is a celebration of happiness, their popular catchword being “eat, drink, and be merry”.

Goa is certainly a place where you discover life. If you are a patron of nature, you can’t simply resist the temptation of embracing the azure sea, you can’t stop yourself from collecting sea shells. It is a place that speaks simplicity and lives freedom. Sometimes I wonder why every place on the earth is not like Goa…and the answer is it is because very simple to be happy, but so difficult to be simple.

Yosemite National park - a must visit park in USA

Yosemite is one of the largest and least divided habitat blocks in the Sierra Nevada, and the park supports a variety of plants and animals. The park has an altitude scope from 2,000 to 13,114 feet (600 to 4,000 m) and contains five leading flora zones: chaparral/oak forest, lower montane, upper montane, subalpine, and alpine. Of California’s 7,000 plant species, about 50% in the Sierra Nevada and much than 20% within Yosemite. There is appropriate habitat or certification for much

than 160 uncommon plants in the park, with uncommon local geological formations and unusual soils characterizing the restricted ranges many of these plants invade. The geology of the Yosemite region is characterized by granitic rocks and remnants of old stone.

About 10 million years ago, the Sierra Nevada was uplifted and so inclined to organize its comparatively mild southwestern slopes and the more spectacular eastern slopes.
